What we make

In whatever form works for you

The form your medicine takes matters as much as what’s in it. If you can’t swallow a pill, can’t keep one down, or need the medicine on one particular spot, we can make it a completely different way.

What changes

Made to order

Your medicine is compounded for your prescription, not pulled off a shelf.

Several medicines in one

Instead of three or four separate tubes and bottles, we can put them all into a single cream, capsule or liquid. One thing to remember instead of four, which is usually the difference between sticking with a treatment and giving up in week three.

Strengths you can’t buy

Manufacturers make only a handful of fixed strengths. If your doctor wants to start you low or taper you down slowly, we can make the exact dose they prescribe, without waiting for a manufacturer to happen to sell it.

Made without the irritants

A dye, a preservative, lactose, gluten, or a capsule you just can’t swallow. We can leave the ingredient out or change the form completely: a tablet becomes a liquid, a pill becomes a cream.

The base

Half the prescription is what it’s mixed into

Two prescriptions with exactly the same ingredients, at exactly the same strengths, can work completely differently depending on what they’re mixed into.

That carrier, which pharmacists call the base, decides how much of the medicine actually gets through your skin, how long it stays there, how it feels when you put it on, and how long it keeps. A quick-drying gel is right for a scalp. A thick ointment that seals in moisture is right for cracked skin. And some ingredients break down in water, so they have to go into a base with no water in it at all.

Your doctor chooses the base, and a pharmacist checks that the ingredients stay stable in it. If the two don’t match up, we call your doctor and sort it out before we make anything.

Prescribers can leave the base to us: write “pharmacist’s choice” and we’ll pick one that keeps the ingredients stable. More for prescribers.
