Compounding pharmacy · serving Washington, DC
Made, not manufactured.
Your prescriber tells us what ingredients you need, how strong they should be, and what form the medication should take.
At Quantum, we make it specifically for you, combining medications that aren’t available together, creating a strength that isn’t commercially sold, or leaving out an ingredient you can’t tolerate.
And you’ll know the price before we make it, so there are no surprises.

Topical analgesic compound
One example out of thousands. Your doctor chooses the ingredients, how strong each one is, and what they’re mixed into.
Every prescription is different
Made after your diagnosis, not before it
Medicine on a pharmacy shelf was designed for an average patient who doesn’t really exist, in whatever strengths a factory decided to produce. Yours starts from the opposite end: one real person, already examined, with a doctor who knows what you can tolerate and what you’ve already tried.
No prescription yet?
You need a prescription for medicine like this. Tell us who your doctor is and we’ll send them our list of formulas, or call us and a pharmacist will tell you exactly what to ask for at your next visit.
What changes
Made to order
Your medicine is compounded for your prescription, not pulled off a shelf.
Several medicines in one
Instead of three or four separate tubes and bottles, we can put them all into a single cream, capsule or liquid. One thing to remember instead of four, which is usually the difference between sticking with a treatment and giving up in week three.
Strengths you can’t buy
Manufacturers make only a handful of fixed strengths. If your doctor wants to start you low or taper you down slowly, we can make the exact dose they prescribe, without waiting for a manufacturer to happen to sell it.
Made without the irritants
A dye, a preservative, lactose, gluten, or a capsule you just can’t swallow. We can leave the ingredient out or change the form completely: a tablet becomes a liquid, a pill becomes a cream.
How it works
Three steps, and only one of them is yours
Your doctor
Your doctor sends us the prescription
They send the prescription straight to us, listing the ingredients, the strengths and the form they want. There’s nothing for you to fill in.
Our lab
We make it here
A pharmacist checks that the ingredients work together and will stay stable, mixes it fresh for you, and confirms the price with you before anything leaves the building.
Your door
It ships, or you pick it up
Two-day shipping anywhere we’re licensed, or pick up at our Chevy Chase counter. Tell us when you’ll run out and we’ll have the next one ready.
Pricing
You’ll know the price before you pay
One cash price per prescription, quoted before you agree to anything. No copay to look up, no insurance company in the middle, and no surprise bill weeks later.

What we make
In whatever form works for you
The form your medicine takes matters as much as what’s in it. If you can’t swallow a pill, can’t keep one down, or need the medicine on one particular spot, we can make it a completely different way.
Doctors send us prescriptions for skin conditions, pain, weight management, hormone therapy and more. Not sure whether we can make what you need? Call us. A pharmacist will tell you in a minute, not a week.
Support
Questions? Ask a pharmacist.
Custom medicines can raise questions a label can’t answer on its own. “Is this stinging normal?” “Should I skip tonight’s dose?” “How long until I notice a difference?” Call us and a pharmacist will talk it through with you.
Refills
Reorder without chasing anyone
We keep every prescription we’ve made for you on file, exactly as it was mixed. Order the same thing again, or have your doctor change it and we’ll make the new version on the same account, with the price shown up front and nothing to start over.
“I was juggling four products on three different schedules, and I gave up twice. Now it’s one jar, once a day, and I’m four months in for the first time.”Example review. Replace with real patient feedback before launch
FAQ
Questions people ask first
Do I need a prescription?
Yes. Medicine like this is prescription-only, and we don’t prescribe. We make what a licensed doctor sends us. If you don’t have a prescription yet, call us and we’ll tell you what to bring up at your appointment, or we’ll send your doctor our list of formulas directly.
Is this medicine FDA-approved?
No, and no compounded medicine is. Because each one is made for a single patient, the FDA doesn’t review it for safety or effectiveness the way it reviews mass-produced drugs. Your doctor orders one when the off-the-shelf version isn’t right for you: a strength nobody sells, a combination that doesn’t exist, a form you can actually swallow, or a version without an ingredient you react to.
Do you take insurance?
No. We charge a cash price per prescription and show you the number before you commit. Most compounded prescriptions aren’t covered anyway, and going through an insurance plan is what creates the approval delays and markups in the first place.
How long does it take?
Most prescriptions are made within one business day of reaching us, then shipped two-day. If you’re nearby, you can pick yours up at our Chevy Chase counter the same day we make it. A few take longer to make, and we’ll tell you if yours is one of them when we give you the price.
Where do you ship?
Anywhere we’re licensed. Pharmacy licenses work state by state, so the honest answer depends on where you live and where your doctor practices. Call us and we’ll check in a minute.
How long does it stay good?
Not as long as a store-bought medicine. Instead of an expiration date, yours has a “beyond-use date” printed on the label next to the day we made it: the last day it’s safe to use. How you store it matters more than usual, and a pharmacist will explain exactly what to do.
Ready when your doctor is
Send us a prescription you already have, or tell us who your doctor is and we’ll get in touch with them.
