About

We make medicine, and nothing else

We make prescription medicine to order in Chevy Chase, MD, for patients and doctors across the Washington, DC area. We don’t stock shelves, we don’t run a shop, and we don’t prescribe. Everything that leaves this building was prescribed for one specific person by their own doctor.

The lab

Made here, one prescription at a time

Making medicine by hand is careful work, and every step is written down. Each one is weighed and mixed against its own written recipe, checked by a second pharmacist who didn’t make it, and labelled with the day we made it and the last day it’s safe to use.

We record which batch every ingredient came from. So if a supplier ever flags a problem with a batch, we can tell exactly whose medicine it went into, and call them.

The people

You get a pharmacist, not a call centre

Whoever answers the phone can pull up your exact prescription. That’s deliberate. Custom medicine raises questions a printed label was never going to answer, and those questions need someone who can see what’s actually in the jar.

We don’t charge you for that conversation, and we don’t put you through a call centre first.

How we work

Four promises we’ll keep

Not promises about how well the medicine will work. Promises about how we’ll treat you.

You hear the price before we make it

One cash price, shipping included, before a pharmacist starts work. No bill afterwards with a different number on it.

We change nothing without asking your doctor

If there’s a problem with the ingredients, how stable they are, or how long it will keep, we call your doctor and agree on a fix. We never swap something out quietly.

We tell you what we can’t do

Whether we can actually make it, whether we can ship to your state, how long it will really take: you get those answers on the phone, not after you’ve paid.

If we get it wrong, we pay for it

Wrong recipe, wrong strength, or damaged on the way to you: we make it again and ship it at no cost to you. The full terms are in shipping and returns.

Licensing & oversight

Who keeps an eye on us

Quantum Pharmacy’s licence application with the Maryland Board of Pharmacy is in process. Until it is granted we are not licensed to compound or dispense, and this page will say so. The Maryland licence is what will let us make medicine here; the out-of-state licences for Washington, DC and the other states we ship to follow from it. We work to the national standards set by the United States Pharmacopeia, and the boards that license a pharmacy can inspect it.

Compounded medicines are not FDA-approved, and the FDA does not review them for safety or effectiveness. That is true of every compounding pharmacy. It is why a compounded medicine should only be used when your doctor has decided that a product you can buy off the shelf isn’t right for you.

Licence numbers and the list of states will be published here once the Maryland licence is granted.

Ready when your doctor is

Send us a prescription you already have, or tell us who your doctor is and we’ll get in touch with them.
